Ready made frozen meals by Cavendish Cooks are hand cooked in small batches in a commercial kitchen in a converted barn in the village of Mells. Started by Rebecca and Nancy it has become one of Bath’s real treasures. The business was purchased by Leah Mercer in 2019.
Leah has been passionate about flavours in her cooking from an early age. In her late teens she chose cooking over photography and set out to build her repertoire in the kitchen. She first trained at The Grange cooking school before setting out on various travels to gain experience of the flavours and cooking styles across the world. She trained further in Thailand and brings the fresh, zingy Asian flavours into her recipes with style. She ran a popular and highly rated bistro café in Frome for a decade and worked in restaurants before that.
She is now updating the classics and adding new meals to the range being offered. Established favourites such as Boeuf Bourguignon and Chicken Tagine have been joined by a host of new dishes such as Lamb Pappardelle and Pumpkin and Peanut Curry and puddings like Toffee, Pecan & Apple pudding.
Ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible. Their meat and eggs are free-range, and their fish comes from sustainable sources.
